Morris Lee Jones was born to Henry Jones Sr. and Ruth B. Jones on January 29, 1943, in Franklin, VA. He was a 1961 graduate of Hayden High School, where he enjoyed playing football and other sports. Morris served in the United States Navy from 1966-1969. He matriculated to Norfolk State College, where he obtained a BA degree in Art Education. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Jones, twin brothers Wallace and Jack Jones, Henry Jones Jr., and sister Mary Jones Gainey. Morris leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 58 years, Florine Foreman Jones, his daughters Morri-Lyn Jones Davis (Kevin) and Shana Jones; grandchildren Ryan Turner, Kevin Davis Jr., Mykaylyn Davis, and Kamryn Davis; his twin sister Lois Jones Golden and Betty Jones Ricks, additional family members and friends.

September 20, 2024 at 11:58 amMy prayer is that God’s grace and your cherished memories will shepherd and keep you through this immediate period of grief and in the future without Morris’s earthly presence. Although our physical paths did not cross often, Morris shall always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and respectful gentleman.
May the words of Psalm 23 comfort each of you. Truly, the Lord is our Shepherd. With respect and understanding, Verna L Holoman, Class of 1961, Hayden High School.

My sincere condolences go out to my family! I was praying that God would heal you on earth but HE had better plans for you in Paradise.
I will always remember playing as kids and then planning class reunions. We finally finished the Family Reunion pages and was glad that you were real pleased because I knew how much family meant to you. You were a very special person, loved by many.
Thank you for speaking at my brother, Robert (Junebaby) Knight Homegoing Service and now you can join him and continue playing football and basketball together.
To my family, I am praying for you and I pray that you will be comforted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Remember there is Hope and you will see Morris again.

September 24, 2024 at 7:46 pmWe met “Uncle J” when I was 6 yrs old as he was my brother’s probation officer. My mom was a single parent of 5 girls and 1 boy and he made an impact on our lives. He was a father figure and imparted wisdom in us. He literally watched me and my siblings grow up and was honored when I asked him to give me away at my wedding. He was part of my village who raised me and I thank God for him being a part of our lives. He was a kind, compassionate, sincere, humble, and all around great man and human being in general. He will truly be missed. I pray for continued strength, healing, and peace for his family and thank them for sharing such a wonderful person with the world.
