Monika Stevenor, 50, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, with the love of her life, husband, and life partner of 30 years, Eric Stevenor, by her side. Born Monika Jarmell Floyd to Barbara Floyd and the late William Floyd, early on, she was nicknamed Nini, but she would later change that to forever be known as “Chaz.”
Chaz graduated from Johnson and Wales University, where she honed her skills as a professionally trained chef. She later became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Blending her love of food and taking care of others, she created CNA Chef, a home health service that offered flavorful chef-prepared meals. She believed “No one should have to eat bland food.” She never met anyone she couldn’t love through food.
On any given Sunday, she could be found enthusiastically watching football, cheering on her beloved Chicago Bears with the heart of a true fanatic. She was passionate about boating and fishing and found solace in gardening. Chaz was a vibrant soul who lived by her own rules and embraced life to the fullest. She had a larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and generous spirit.
She is survived by husband, Eric Stevenor; daughter, Danielle Floyd; mother, Barbara Floyd; siblings, Aubrey Gray, Shereese Floyd, Shatada Floyd-White, and Billy Floyd; a nephew Almasi White, and fur babies, Allie and Mushu; and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by William Floyd; grandparents, Melvin and Rosa Thomas; uncle, Melvin Thomas, whom she dubbed “Funcle”; and fur baby, Chocolate.
