Father’s Reflections
Miracle Syarah Nurse was called to eternal rest on May 7, 2025, in Portsmouth, VA. She was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 3, 2013 to Bernard T. Nurse, Jr. and Marsha Phillip.
Miracle was a gentle and sweet soul who brought light into the lives of everyone around her. Though she faced challenges in her young life, she carried strength that quietly inspired those who knew her. Her smile was like sunshine — bright, pure, and unforgettable. Though she couldn’t speak with words, her presence spoke volumes. She had a way of touching hearts without ever needing to say a thing.
Miracle taught us the meaning of love, patience, and grace. She reminded us to find beauty in stillness and joy in the simplest of moments. Though her time here was brief, her impact will remain forever. Heaven has gained a precious angel, and we will forever carry her in our hearts.
Miracle leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Bernard T. Nurse, Jr., her mother, Marsha Phillip, three brothers, Anthony Williams, Bernard T. Nurse, III, and Brandon Nurse. Three grandparents, Bernard T. Nurse, Sr., Juliet Nurse, and Julitte Serrant. Three aunts, Michelle Nurse, Vern Joseph, and Jasmine Davis; four uncles, Rawle Nurse, Troy Nurse, Horace Nurse, and Anthony Serrant. Two God-parents, Glenda Whyte and Roosevelt Foster, a host of cousins, and other family members.
Mother’s Reflections
Miracle Syarah Nurse, 12, was born at 6:00 PM on January 3, 2013, weighing 1lb in Bon Secour Hospital. Nugget came in fighting, she wanted to be a part of the world, she wanted to make her mark, she was going to be the one to beat all the odds.
Miracle loved to be picked up by her big brother; she loved getting her hair done, and she loved it when you read to her and kissed those pretty lips. Her laugh it was so contagious. I am so proud to have had her as a daughter. God did not give me what I wanted, but more of what I needed. I’m thankful and grateful for the twelve years of her life which I got to love on her. For God made me know a mother’s love is always needed. there was never a time when you were not in our thoughts and prayers.
Miracle leaves behind her mother, Marsha Phillip; her father, Bernard Nurse, Jr; brother, Anthony P., Bernard N. and Brandon N.; her aunties, Vern Joseph, Jasmine Davice, Fiona Bigg, and Michelle J.; her uncles, Anthony Serrant, Rawle Nurse and Florice Nurse; a nephew, Carter Wiliams, a host of cousins and other family members.’
