Minnie L. Hoskie

Sunrise: June 11, 1934

Sunset: April 1, 2020

Minnie Lenora McIntosh was born on June 11, 1934, to the union of the late Harvey McIntosh and the late Dena Mae Smith in Sumter, SC. She had two sisters to precede her in death: Mary Agnes (Ruth) McIntosh Allen and Mary Elizabeth McIntosh Davis.

Minnie accepted Christ at an early age and was then baptized in the precious name of the Lord. In 1949, she moved to Portsmouth, VA, where she graduated from “Our Lady of Victory Catholic School” and went on to Nursing School. Minnie met and married the late Ralph Hoskie to whom one child was born, Ralph Harvey Hoskie.

She was an avid baker. Her deliciously famous fruitcake was a must have dessert during the Christmas season and everyone loved the other scrumptious goodies she baked.

Minnie was devoted to her community, Victory Manor. She took care of her sick neighbors and was there for them in any emergency. She often would curl and style the young lady’s hair in the neighborhood for Easter and other occasions. Minnie had a heart of gold.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Ralph “Sonny” Hoskie of Portsmouth; her granddaughter Rashaun “Shaun” Briggs of Suffolk; two great grandchildren Jaqual “Jay” Briggs and D’Leah Rhonda Cross both of Suffolk; one sister Frances Curry (Isaac) of Chesapeake; two brothers, Harvey McIntosh, Jr.(Rose) of Brooklyn, NY and Charles McIntosh of Indianapolis, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

We are praying much for you and your family, as “weeping may endureth for a night, but JOY comes in the morning!”

    Love and Prayers,

    Sister-in-Law, Addie M. Foster & Family
