Milton Benjamin Lane, Jr. affectionately known as “Mickey,” slipped into eternal rest on January 20, 2025. He was born May 18, 1942, to the late Ernestine (Taylor) Lane and Milton Benjamin Lane, Sr.
Milton was educated in the Norfolk School System. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he met his lifetime friends who formed the group “The Corner Boys.” He worked several labor jobs in his early life. In later years, he became a merchant seaman working for Military Sealift Command as a chef for over twenty years. After his retirement, he opened his own business “Lane’s World” for janitorial services. He also briefly worked for Norfolk Public Works before fully retiring.
He joined Macedonia United Christian Church in Norfolk, Virginia at a young age. He later in life accompanied his wife Delores to Enoch Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Milton was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin and friend.
He was predeceased by his father, Milton Benjamin Lane, Sr.; mother, Ernestine Taylor Lane; daughter, Sharon Lane; and brother, Thomas Lane, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dolores P. Lane; sons, Milton B Lane, III, and Thomas Lane; sons through marriage, LeKeith Lewis, Cramontee Calloway, and Maurcie Kamara; three daughters, Charmaine Key (Joseph), Monique Reid (Wayne), Miru Hale; sister in law, Michane E . Lane; siblings, Louis Ferguson (Carl), Linda Martin, Marjorie Gordon, Michael Lane, Latina Wilder, Larnell Lane, Peter Lane; a loving aunt, Jacqueline Josey; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
