On Friday, September 11, 2020, our beloved, Mother, Grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend transitioned from her labor to her reward in Heaven. Mildred Plummer Morgan Bell was born on Monday, June 21, 1948 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Theresa Plummer Futrell and Thomas O. Hardy. Mildred attended I.C. Norcom High School and graduated class of 1968. She was employed with the NOB at the Naval Base, Tricare of Blue Cross-Blue Shield and retired from the former Gwaltney Plant in Portsmouth, VA. She also was a graduate of The Commonwealth College where upon graduation was hired as admission counselor and advisor. Mildred loved her family and God. She went above and beyond duty for her family as friends. Mildred loved watching movies, playing cards, listening to music and shopping. She was a band parent, foster mother, Boy and Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed going to church. Mildred loved her girlfriends, some from childhood and from meeting as adults; Barbara A. Cross, Susie Davis, April “TC” Jordan, Gerri Norman, Brenda Jones, Pamela Williams and Gwendolyn Wynn.
Mildred was preceded in death by her only son, Charles H. Morgan, Jr.; grandson, Charles H. Morgan III; mother, Theresa P. Futrell; father, Thomas O. Hardy. Left to cherish her legacy is her daughter, Sharon Morgan Bailey, special daughter, Tammy M. Cobb ; granddaughters, Shekerra Snipe, Keshara C. McCoy (Brandon), Chardonay L. Reid, Camay Adamson; grandsons, Jayden, Desmond and Kayden McCoy and one great granddaughter, Jailyn Snipe; two brothers, Maurice D. Robinson (Hortense Vann) and Earle Scarboro. We will miss you “Mildred”. Rest well in the arms of Jesus, sweetly your soul shall rest.
