Michelle Lynn Wilson, 51, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021 at Sentara Norfolk Heart Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born at Roosevelt Roads Naval Hospital in Puerto Rico and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Old Dominion University. She excelled as an elementary school teacher in the Norfolk Public Schools until her illness forced her to leave the classroom.
Michelle was a woman of deep faith who truly loved the Lord and had a heart for service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Lambert’s Point (Norfolk) where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Cancer Ministry, Bread of Life, and the Culinary Arts Committee. She also fulfilled her passion for service as a proud member of Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
She was an inspirational author. Through her book “It’s Already Done!” and daily devotionals published in the Zoe Life Inspired series, she sought to inspire many others to embrace the amazing gift of hope that comes with the dawn of each new day and remind them that it is never too late to begin again.
Michelle was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and niece. She is survived by her parents, Edwina and Clarence Wilson, Jr.; her sister, Lisa Wilson; her brothers, Clarence Wilson, III (Clay) and Michael Wilson; her nieces, Quintonya Wilson and Mya Wilson; her nephew, Malik Wilson; her aunts, Lynda Howcott and Margaret Mitchell, and a host of cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to The American Heart Association or Edmarc Hospice for Children (Portsmouth).

May 27, 2021 at 3:05 pmMy heart is full over the passing of my dear sorority sister Michelle. She contributed immensely to the work of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Omega chapter. Whether it was through our community service programs, mentoring and advising our younger members at ODU, or in service as an officer, Michelle was always ethical, forthright and dutiful when discharging her responsibilities. Moreover, she was an affectionate, sensitive woman, who prioritized the sisterhood. I will miss our honest talks and support of one another. She was so beautiful in her support of my daughters. She is already missed.

May 30, 2021 at 4:34 pmMy heart goes out to the entire Wilson family and her close friends. She is in a better place free of pain now with no worries. My heart is very sadden to lose Michelle because her personality was so inspiring, we lost her to soon, but never forgotten. She was a very important person to Cardiac Rehabilitation team at Sentara Heart Hospital. We really enjoyed her laughter at our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. We always had a great time at the Heart Cardiac Rehabilitation on Tuesday and Thursday working out. I was hoping to see her get back there, but now she is with the lord now. R.I.P. Michelle! We miss you and We Love you!
