Michael Lee Nash, affectionately known by many as Tirey, was born on February 28, 1955, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Herbert and Annie Nash. On Friday, February 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, he slipped into eternal rest and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
He was educated in Norfolk Public Schools and attended Booker T. Washington High School. He went on to take classes at Norfolk State University for electronics and was employed with the City of Norfolk for many years.
Michael “Tirey” began his faith walk when he surrendered his life to God and accepted Christ as his Savior at his late sister’s homegoing service on August 28, 2015. It was a joyous occasion for both him and the saints of God. Shortly after, he joined Faith Community Church in Norfolk, VA, and was a devoted member. He loved the Lord and actively participated in worship services and Bible study. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
He loved to dress and gave extra attention when styling his clothes. He also enjoyed watching action movies. His all-time favorite movie was The Beekeeper, and he often expressed his excitement with seeing the villains defeated and the vulnerable protected. He was always delighted when his eldest niece, Kenyetta, visited him and brought his favorite meals. He was truly a joy to be around, and he remained his humorous self, even at the time of his passing.
Michael ‘Tirey’ Nash was predeceased in death by his parents, Herbert and Annie Nash, wife, Valerie Nash, sisters, Velda ‘Peggy’ Spellman and Yvonne Smallwood, brother, Anthony Nash, and sister-in-laws, Martha and Georgia Nash.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his son, Antwone Nash of Aberdeen, MD, one brother, Gregory Nash of Phenix City, AL, two sisters, Jacqueline Burgess (Toney) of Chester, VA, and Cynthia Hill (Sam) of Chesapeake, VA, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
