Michael A. Parson, a beloved native of Norfolk, VA, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on March 27, 2025. Michael was born August 1, 1971, in Norfolk, VA to the late Lawrence and Doris Parson. He attended Norfolk Public Schools and was a graduate of Maury High School in 1989.
At a very young age, he joined St. Luke Holiness Church of Christ Disciples. In his leisure time, Michael enjoyed watching the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), relishing the excitement and entertainment it provided. This passion became a source of joy and shared experiences with friends and family, showcasing his fun-loving personality and ability to connect with others over common interests.
Professionally, Michael was a dedicated and skilled electrician employed by Brooks Electric. His expertise in the field was evident, and his colleagues respected him for his work ethic and exceptional craftsmanship.
Unfortunately, as his health declined, he faced challenges that impacted both his career and daily life.
As a dedicated member of the ROTC with aspirations of joining the Marines, Michael exemplified a remarkable commitment to service and leadership from a young age. He established the Young Marines Program and showcased his desire to make a difference in the lives of others, particularly the youth around him. Through this program he inspired many young men to strive for excellence, instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and respect.
Michael was a remarkable individual whose deep passion for foreign cars was evident in every vehicle he owned. Each car was a canvas for his creativity, most notably distinguished by his signature touch: the BBS Rims.
His keen eye for design and detail not only showcased his love for cars but also his unique style and personality. Beyond his automotive interests, Michael had a great sense of humor that could light up any room. He had an undeniable passion for music, particularly RUN DMC, which filled his life and the lives of those around him with rhythm and joy. His love for music was infectious and a testament to his vibrant spirit. However, above all else, it was his family that held the deepest place in his heart. Michael’s love for them was unwavering and profound, and it is this love that they will carry with them as they navigate this difficult time. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of passion, laughter, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Doris and Lawrence Parson. He leaves to cherish in his memory, three sons, Dominique Porter of Suffolk, VA, Kenneth Burr (Kirsten) of New York, NY and Dondre Porter (Shai) of Portsmouth, VA; four sisters, Cheryl Allen (Douglas) of Suffolk, VA, Andrea Parson of Suffolk, VA, Kimberly Parson- Smith (Ronald) of Portsmouth, VA and Nikki Holmes of Portsmouth, VA; two brothers, Alvin Parson (Shelia) of Woodbridge, VA and Dexter Parson of Norfolk, VA; eleven grandchildren, Caliyah, King, Khloey, Aaiden, Cameron, Yari, Sky, Dominique Jr., Amie, Liberty and Iyanna; one aunt, Bernice Moore (Ronald); three uncles, Alfred Davenport (Geraldine), Warren Davenport (Mary) and Charles Davenport; two godmothers, Alma Walker and Magdalene Knox and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
