LIFE
Life began for Merlene Crockett Nelson on June 17, 1930 in Smith County, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of Colenia Crockett and Watson Waters. Merlene was a graduate of Water Bluff Elementary and Weldon High School. She attended both Butler and Texas College for 2 years, where she ran track. Merlene was the widow of Clarence Nelson. She retired from St. Francis after 38 years of service as a Medical Technician supervisor.
DEATH
A peaceful death came for Merlene on April 16, 2020 at 3:00am in her residence among family.
ETERNITY
Merlene Nelson went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker is God. Her memories will be cherished by a loving, devoted daughter, Diane Mack (James); one son, Antonio Crockett; three granddaughters, Robin Broadaway, Elizabeth Mack, Dianne R. Myles; two grandsons, Antonio Crockett II, and Charles Myles, II; Seven great grandson, Derrick M. Broadaway, II, Brandon Broadway, Robert Broadaway, Napoleon Wells ,Maxmylyan Myles, Charles Myles III ,DeQuan Lucas; two great- great granddaughter, Layla Moriah Broadaway and Leia Brielle Broadaway; a very special care giver, Tracey Burke, and a host of other relatives and friends.
