On March 20, 2020 Maurice Murphy beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend was called home to be with the Lord. Maurice was born July 30, 1973 in Norfolk to Hazel Slaughter and Ransom Murphy who he leaves to cherish his memories. After graduating high school Maurice held several jobs until landing employment with Didlake Inc., which he has been with for 20 years. Maurice had such a huge heart. He was friendly, funny, and very wise for his 46 years. If there was anything that he could do to help you, he was there for you always to lend a hand.
Maurice will truly be missed and leaves to celebrate his life, his mother Hazel Slaughter (Kim), his father Ransom Murphy (Marie); brother’s, Torrance Murphy (Arnisha) and Roderick Murphy; stepbrothers, Brett Slaughter and Donnie Simmons; stepsisters, DeShel Cherry, Samantha Willie, and Andrea Fox; and host of nieces, nephews, Godmother Charlotte Shelton; brother’s, Arthur Shelton Jr, Antoine Johnson, Christopher Goings, Rodney Brehon, Terry Banks, Rodney Holley, Bishop Jermone James, Jermaine James, Timothy James, Kevin Sanders, Clifton James Jr, and Omar Griffin.

April 1, 2020 at 2:51 pmFOR A DEARLY LOVED COUSIN & NEPHEW
Maurice, we are Thankful for the time we had you in our life’s.
I just want to let you know the day you left your earthly home and gained your wings, my heart just torn in two. One side filled with heartache, the other side left with you. We are so devastated that we cannot attend your Homegoing due to this horrific virus called COVID-19′
Maurice, you were Very Special and a Dearly Loved Nephew and Cousin. Thank You for always being at the airport and bringing Uncle June to pick up your Aunt & Cousin. Whenever I wanted to go shopping at the mall or get my hair done or even go get a Slurpee at 7-Eleven you would say let’s ride cuz and of course I was ready to roll bounce with you all over Norfolk, Va.
Maurice, you left me with the memories of a lifetime and I Love You Dearly. I know I can’t bring you back, although I wish it everyday. To mourn you from Flint, Mi. is so hard to do. I’ve been crying and can’t stop. I know you wouldn’t want your best 1st cousin to be upset, but it’s so hard to say Good-Bye, but Good-Bye it will never be. So I will just say, “See You Later Cuz and Sleep Well.”
Meet me at the Pearly Gates when Heaven calls for me. I know you’ll be there waiting for me along with:
Grand-Ma Virnette Murphy & Grand-Dad Ransom Murphy.
My Daddy your Uncle Don Herron.
Aunt Cumy Hawkins & Aunt Maxine Murphy along with the rest of the Roger’s Family cause they were there waiting upon your arrival.
I know whenever I’m feeling sad and this smile becomes a frown. I’ll look up to the sky above and there will be an Angel ( My Cousin Maurice) looking down!!!!!
Your Loving Cousin’s
Ivy, Roy, & Kevin Herron
(Niece & Nephew to Ransom(Marie) Murphy)
&
Your Loving Aunt Eldridge Herron
