Mattie L. Woody

Mattie Lucille Woody 91, of Norfolk, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 06, 2019. Born in Corapeake, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late LillIe Dale Ralph, she relocated to Norfolk Virginia in 1952.

Married to her first husband, the late Willie Alphonso Fauntleroy they had nine children. Years later she married the late James Louis Woody. They were inseparable until death. They were both faithful members of  First Gospel Tabernacle Church.  Mattie Woody served as the president of the Usher board  until her death.

Devoted mother and grandmother,  she was the rock of her family. Mattie diligently worked  to provide for her family. She is preceded in death by her sons  Lloyd Fauntleroy, Ozie Fauntleroy, and Lymas Fauntleroy.  Mattie is survived by her children Dorothy Fauntleroy, Beverly Collins (John),  Janet Morris (Ricky), Glenda Fauntleroy, Maurice Fauntleroy, and Glen Fauntleroy (Debbie). Mattie also leaves to cherish her memory a host of grand children, great grand children and great- great grand children, the Bairds and the First Gospel Tabernacle Church.

    I have fond memories of my Beloved Cousin Mattie.
    I could look forward to receiving a Christmas Card from her, for
    there was love across the county lines. (Norfolk & North Carolina).

    Dot, Beverly, and all of the other children, grandchildren, cousins, friends, I decree and declare in Jesus Name, that the Lord will help us to celebrate this Queen and Prayer Warrior who has left a beautiful legacy.

      Only the divine strength of God is able to carry you through this very difficult place but our God promise to to never leave you all nor forsake you all. My heart goes out to your family. I pray a fresh anointing and God’s Grace be with you all. I’m sorry that won’t be able to be with with on Wednesday.

    Beverly, Am sad I cannot come to the visitation to view your Mom and pay respect to you and John.
