On April 9, 2018, at Sentara Nursing Care in Portsmouth, VA, Mary Violet Black (Lee) departed this life for eternal reward.
Mary was the second of four children born in Newark, NJ on January 25, 1924 to Lucille and John Lee Sr. She was preceded
in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Harris, brothers John Lee Jr. and Frederick Lee. Children Isaiah Howard Jr. and Gwendolyn Brathwaite. Grandson Carl Headen. Mary worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Lyons, NJ well over 10 years as well as other various jobs.
