Mary Francis McNulty, also known to many as “Mama Kay” was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2021. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Eugene Williams and Vera Sally McCalop.
Mary was well known in the community and loved by many people. She was a hard worker and loved to give back to others. She later on met her husband, Hezekiah McNulty and to this union, five children were born. She was employed by Norfolk Public Schools where she was the lead Food Service Specialist at Francis E. Willard Model Elementary School for over 20 years. Mary had a special passion for cooking and was well known for hosting gatherings and cookouts.
Mary loved to be around her family and friends. She loved sharing her stories and showing pictures to those who were close to her. She had a true passion for children that were in need. She later became a certified licensed Foster Care Parent for the State of Virginia. She welcomed over 15 children in her home during her tenure as a foster parent. She was recognized several times as Foster Parent of the Year for the City of Norfolk.
Mary was one of six children of Robert and Vera. Three of her siblings preceded her in death, Eva Louise Stackhouse, Dudley Williams and Timothy Williams.
To cherish her precious memories, she leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Hezekiah McNulty; five children, Morrie Eugene Williams, Hellis McNulty (Glencilla), Cynthia Odum (Ronald), Margo Lymore (Joseph) and Teddy McNulty; two sisters, Annie Mildred Ezzell and Annie Pearl McCalop; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren; special aunt, Garnett McCalop, along with a host of family and friends.
