Mary Elizabeth Davis passed away at the age of 87 years old, on Tuesday March 21st, 2023 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was born on January 11th, 1936 in Nash County North Carolina, to the late Julia Irene Cooper and the late Johnny Ray Copper.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Julia Cooper and Johnny Copper; and her husband Roger Pete Davis.
In that union they had five children Roger L. Davis, Joyce A. Shelton, Betty D. Davis, William Davis, and Katie M. Davis.
Mary loved making clothes and cooking for the family. She was the glue that kept the family together, by getting everyone together as much as possible. Mary loved listening to gospel music and it’s was a way for her to pastime. She was a loving and proud women, who spoke her mind and didn’t care who didn’t like it. Mary loved children and taking care of everybody’s children and she didn’t ask for anything in return. She raised her grandchildren and the neighborhood children with a kind and loving heart.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories her two sons Roger L. Davis and William Davis; and three daughters, Joyce A. Shelton, Betty D. Davis and Katie M. Davis; eight grandchildren, Antoinette DeSousa, Eric Davis, Shauntain Davis, Lakesha Davis, Aretha Davis, Corey Davis, Latasha Davis, and Alexandra Davis; and a host of great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
We will always remember her forgiving spirit…
