Marvin Lee Otey peacefully departed this life on Monday, February 25, 2019. He was born on September 20, 1949 to the late Thomas H. Otey, Jr. and Mary Bell Otey. He attended Norfolk Public Schools. Marvin retired form Colonna’s Shipyard with over 20 years of service. He was the “brain” in the Dock Shop Department. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with and would give you the shirt off his back. Always willing to help.

He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas H. Otey, III; a daughter, Neicy Jones; grandson, Keeahey Scott; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory; loving and devoted wife of thirty years, Carolyn Fonville Otey; daughter, Valencia
Otey Perkins (Madison) of Cameron, N.C.; two sons, Dwight Davis and Calvin Fonville both of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Cleo Otey Reep of Virginia Beach, VA, Sylvia Otey Billups and Deborah Otey Loiseau both of Norfolk, VA; one aunt, Elizabeth Otey Adams of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
