Marvin Grantum was born on June 11th, 1952, in Ridgeland South Carolina. He was the third of six children born to the late Eloise and James Grantum. Marvin accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from I. C. Norcom High School in 1971.After Completion of High School he joined the U. S. Marines and became a Rifleman.
After Leaving the Marines, Marvin accepted several jobs. He was employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a security Guard for Gwaltney, and the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Marvin was married to the late Seleeda Bell Grantum and from their union they had one son Harlan Wes Grantum. Marvin resided in Richmond, Va with his family and later relocated to Windsor, North Carolina.
Marvin was a very loving, kind and an extremely generous person. He loved his family especially his son Harlan. He loved to dress neat and loved fashion and shoes. He also loved dancing and singing to songs like “Pain in my heart” by Otis Redding, “Joy to the World” by 3 Dogs Night and lastly “Jesus is coming” by Slim and the Supreme Angels. Marvin got joy from talking to his family and loved to reminisce about the good old days.
On February 8th, 2024, Marvin departed his earthly life to begin his eternal life with the lord. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents James and Eloise Grantum, Wife Seleeda Bell, Brother Elton Harley Jr. And Nephew James Henry Alexander III. He leaves to cherish his memory, Son Harlan Grantum, Brothers-Rudolph Grantum (Reann) of Augusta GA, Larry Grantum (Andra) of Chesapeake, VA. Sisters- Olivia Randolph (Earl) of Richmond, VA, Wanda Griffin of Chesapeake, VA. And a host of beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
