Marvin Alonzo West, Jr. was born July 23, 1964 in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Marvin A. West, Sr. and Ruby Battle West. He entered eternal rest on June 7, 2021, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk Virginia. Marvin was a native of Norfolk, Virginia and the oldest of three sons.
He was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Granby High School in 1982. He furthered his education at ECPI. He was employed with Olive Garden Restaurant.
At an early age, he joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later moved his membership to New Calvary Baptist Church.
Marvin was intelligent, kind, cheerful and talented which attribute to making him a well-rounded and well-liked individual. He was a DIE HARD Dallas Cowboys fan to the end. (Don’t talk about those Cowboys because he would just let you have it!)
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Douglas West; paternal grandparents, Russell and Doris West; maternal grandparents, Mae F. Battle and Morell Watkins.
Left to cherish his precious memories is his loving and devoted wife of twenty-seven years, Paula West of Norfolk, VA; one son, Marvin A. West III of Virginia Beach, VA; step-son, Darryl Love of Norfolk, VA; brother, William West (Deborah) of Bridgewater, VA; two nephews, Emmitt West and Joseph West of Harrisonburg, VA; two aunts, Terri Battle and Danielle Duffield of Chesapeake, VA; two sister-in-laws, Delreace Ames (Robert) and JoAnn Paige both of Norfolk, VA; two brother-in-laws, Grady Love Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Dexter Love (Frances) of Niceville, Florida; and a host of other relatives and friends.

June 18, 2021 at 11:36 amSincere condolences to the West family. I lived around the corner from the West family in Virginia Beach. He was always watching over the neighborhood kids like a big brother. I was working in JMU and got to visit and hangout numerous times. He hadnt changed and was still a great guy that cared about everyone. He will be missed.
Rest in Peace Marvin
