Marjorie Elizabeth Foreman was born on October 5, 1941 to the late Edward Staten and Mary Vincent of Norfolk, Va. She was the oldest of two children. As a child, they moved to New York City and she attended New York City Public Schools.

While attending high school she met the love of her life Robert Foreman, Sr. who became her lifelong partner of 57 years. They married on October 16, 1960 and from this union came three sons Robert, Anthony, and Kevin and two daughters in laws Connie and Precious.

After being a homemaker she attended Queensborough Community College and earned a degree in Education. She entered the workforce in 1967 as a reading specialist at PS -50 in Jamaica, NY. As an educator, she not only worked to advance children’s lives but she worked on behalf of all educators as a United Federation of Teachers Chapter Leader and attended various conventions as Union Delegate. She served the Queens community for 39 years and formed lifelong friendships.

In her 30s she rededicated her life to Christ and she became a member of Apostolic Temple of Jesus Christ (Jamaica, NY). As a member, she served on the usher board and board secretary. She continued her life passion of working with children’s choir known as the Sunbeams. She was considered the matron of the Sunbeams and took pride in producing the yearly black history program.  She helped to start the scholarship fund to honor the yearly graduates.

After her husband’s retirement they relocated to Suffolk, VA to be closer to their grandchildren. In search of a new church family she became a member of Christ Church Ministry under the leadership of Bishop Robert Baker, Sr.

Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory her sister Patricia Staten. Three grandchildren, Olivia, Camille and Anthony. Her neighborhood daughters Rose Payne and Easter Edmonds. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God children, other relatives and many friends. Her lifelong family and friends; Elizabeth Flowers, Ernestine Robinson, Maggie Martin and Bernice Seymour.

So many memories that I have of my dear sister in Christ and Best Friend. She was my spiritual light and I was her shoulder and she was mine. I feel with all of my heart not only was she called home by God, but also by her husband Lee who was standing right along side Him, saying Margie it’s ok ! Come home. She listened to the called and she did..
Both her and Lee were True Christians and Warriors for the Lord.
Bye for now my dear friend ..We will one day meet again!
    Love ya Girl

Aunt Margie, When we last spoke, you were in the hospital and instead of telling me how you were doing, you kept asking how I was doing. But that’s just how you were…always concerned about others. You finally told me you were tired and just wanted to go home….I should have known that you were yearning for your heavenly home. We laughed and talked until I knew you were needing to rest….I’m so glad I got the chance to tell you I love you….and I always will.
