January 29, 2021 at 11:02 amWell done thy good and faithful servant, Eldress Marion Asterilla is the last of my grandmother’s (Bishop Eva B. Fentress) singing group! The Fentress Gospel Singers were popular in the 1950’s and 60’s. As a child, I loved seeing Ms. Asterilla’s smile with her sparkling gold tooth shining through as she sung and praised the lord! Rest-In-Heaven Eldress, your work is done on this side… tell my grand mom, mother, your mom and your daddy, the best BASS singer on this side of heaven that I said, keep on turning-up in the heavenly choir!
I also remember Ms. Marion coming to get her hair done at my grand mom’s home and at The Fentress Beauty Shop. I can’t forget the tea the ladies talked about… life lessons I’ll never forget!
