“She is more precious than rubies”
Proverbs 3:15

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Marion Elizabeth Winfield gracefully accepted the call to rest on March 10, 2022, when she heard the Lord whisper, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, the time is now.” She is now at home, a building not made by man.

Marion was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late William Thomas Elliott and Blanche Deloridge Elliott. She was married to the late Richard Winfield, Sr. To this union six girls and three boys were born.

She accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. She served under the leadership of the late Pastor Lamar and Pastor James B. Sharpe. After the earthly transition of her leaders, she stayed steadfast in her commitment to God and the church, by continuing to serve under Pastor Ernest Reid and our present Pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael L. Williams. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Beautification Club, and the Ministry of Arts & Crafts.

Marion was a stylish person, who loved looking good from head to toe. Everything matched. She loved singing with a group called Gospel Trio.

She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters: Geraldine Hines, Barbara Patillo (James), Blanche McGowan (Johnny) Sandra Harrison (Reginald); two sons: Richard Winfield, Jr. (Ernestine) and Robert Winfield (Doreen); two special daughters: Iris Walker (Marcellius) and Helen Wright (Naymon) and someone who became dedicated, always there for us, Deaconess Marion Porter; one sister, Carrie Clarke; two brothers: Roland Elliott, Sr. (Helen) and Wilbert Elliott (Delores); 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Winfield, Sr.; daughters, Delores Johnson and Velma Winfield; son, Sheldon (Cheese) Winfield; grandson, Eric Johnson; three sisters and four brothers.

Be comforted all ye who weep, She lives with God, He’s still alive.

Mother Marion Winfield is an old soldier in God’s Heavenly Army, she marches to the beats of the Lord’s commands, sing songs, to the Heavenly Host. She also, singing to her loved ones; their souls touched with a spiritual awaking from God.
