Marilyn P. Smith

Sunrise: April 14, 1962

Sunset: July 16, 2019

Sorrows come and go just as surely as do the joys of life; yet there is something disquieting, so deeply sorrowful, about the death of a loved one that we never seem amply prepared for the inevitable occasion.  So it is with the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law, and friend.

Marilyn Pierce Smith, 57, of 12143 Pawtucket Lane, Waldorf, VA, was called home peacefully to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, finalizing her illness.  She was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the (late) John E. Pierce and Mary L. Pierce on April 14, 1962.

Marilyn spent many years in Portsmouth, Virginia before relocating to Waldorf, Maryland where she lived for more than 20 years.  She was a former member of New First Baptist Church of Taylorsville in Portsmouth, Virginia and she loved the Lord.  A true mentor and friend to everyone she met, Marilyn devoted her life to serving others.  She used her knowledge as a Cybersecurity Analyst as well as her creativity and business knowledge to touch many lives.  Marilyn was an individual with multiple skills.  Not only did she perform as a Security Analyst but she had other talents – musician, tax preparer, event coordinator, decorator, you name it, she could do it.  Her quick wit and calming nature will be missed by all who knew her.  She endeared herself in the hearts of her family and friends, was loving, kindhearted, devoted and considerate.  With heavy hearts we bow in humble submission to the will of the Almighty.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Victor Smith of Waldorf, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Valerie Smith of Washington, DC; three sisters, Altheria Alexander of Suffolk, Virginia, Valerie Hinton of Chesapeake, Virginia, Cherie Lee of Portsmouth, Virginia; one brother, Johnny Pierce of Portsmouth, VA; three nieces, Daniela Alexander, Rosalind Alexander, Alexis Pierce; two nephews, Isaiah Hinton, Demetrius Hinton; three grand-nieces, Nishara Branch, Angel Hughes, Ra’neal Hughes; other relatives and friends.

We loved her dearly but God loved her best and now she is at rest.
