Marcus Ernest Wray (Gravy) of Portsmouth, VA departed this life on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 54. He was born on October 5, 1965 to the late Louise Wray and Garland Ernest Wray.

Marcus obtained his high school diploma and was inspired by his older brother, Darin (DL) Wray to complete his Culinary Certification. He enjoyed playing sports with his youngest brother, Dr. Jason Wray, as a child. He was a protector and nurturer to his sisters, Ellen, Vivian, Athelia, and especially his baby sister, Stacy. Mark was a proud Cowboys fan and known for “repping” his team. He enjoyed watching sports, dancing, and spending his time with friends and family-in other words … Gravy was the life of the party!!!! Mark loved to celebrate life; his laughter, vibrant smile, and giving spirit are characteristics that his family and friends will truly miss.

Marcus was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Wray-Johnson; his sisters, Ellen Wray(Lil Bit); Althelia Wray-West(Bay-Bay); brother, Darin Wray (DL), and his grandmothers, Ellen Jordan Saunders, and Vivian Wray Sexton. Mark leaves to cherish his memories his adopted daughter, Ebony Bell of Virginia; three grandchildren, Maykala, Joshua and Kobie. Mark served as a father figure for his nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memories are his father, Garland Ernest Wray( Patricia) of Maryland; sisters, Vivian Ann Wray, and Stacy Irene Wray of Virginia; his brother, Dr. Jason Wray( Jacqueline) of North Carolina; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; a dear friend , Bernice Sykes, and best friends Irving Harris, Travis Brinkley, Leonard (Nap) Trotter, and Melvin Ellis that he loved, as well as other family and friends.
