Manuel Sablan Encarnacion, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023 in Norfolk, Va. surrounded by family. He was born February 15, 1939, in Naic, Cavite Philippines to Hilario and Librada Encarnacion. He was the fifth of seven children.

Manuel served in the US Navy for 20 years. While in the military he traveled the world visiting islands, countries, and continents afar, He found a passion for real estate investment during and after the military. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a barber while managing his real estate properties.

“Manny” loved reading, cooking, gardening, home repairing, entertaining, and matchmaking. He enjoyed writing poetry and reciting popular speeches including the Declaration of Independence and MLK’s I have a Dream. He was dedicated to helping people. He loved to smile and offer advice and wisdom.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Nena D. Encarnacion, his last living sibling of 7, Adelaida E. Pelina, and his 3 children, Melody Encarnacion, Maria Pedreira, and Noel Encarnacion. He has 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom he constantly yelled at to be quiet so he could enjoy his afternoon naps.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, 1/26/23 from 2p-6p at Metropolitan Funeral Home. Guests are invited to refreshments in the dining hall from 3:30p to 5p. The celebration of life will conclude on Friday, 1/27/23 from 2p-3p with viewing and reflection. Refreshments will be served from 3p -4p in the Dining hall.
