Malia Alanda Simon
Sunrise: June 9, 2020
Sunset: June 28, 2020
Malia Alanda Simon was granted her angel wings on June 28, 2020. Her final days were spent surrounded by family that Malia had touched in some way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Malia’s life would seem too short to many. But those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence would be challenging but her time with us would be momentous. Her gentle smile, tiny finger and baby soft skin brought so much joy to our family.
Although she was so tiny and frail, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved to cuddle. She could spend hours cuddling with her mommy listening to hear voice and the sound of her heartbeat. She enjoyed lullabies and soft touches.
Malia is survived by her loving parents, Daneda M. Simon and Bernard Spain of Norfolk, VA; several siblings; maternal grandparents Quinnetta S. Pierce of Chesapeake, VA and Christopher Simon of Sumter, SC; a paternal grandfather Bernard Lowery; maternal aunts Chelisa L. Painter of Norfolk, VA, Chrisha Simon of Columbia, SC and Brandy Manuel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL ; paternal aunts Brandy Lamb and Quisha Spain of Norfolk, VA; maternal uncles Christopher (CJ) Simon of Sumter, SC and Joshua Simon of Sumter, SC; maternal great-grandparents Willie Lee Simon and Cornelius Simon of Sumter, SC; maternal great-aunts Tymeshia Simon of Sumter, SC and Donna Hawkins of Fairfax County, VA ; maternal great-uncles Donald A. Pierce and Zan B. Ford of Baltimore, MD, and Donald Porter of Franklin, VA. And a host of loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her great uncle William Simon and her great-grandparents Donald L. Pierce and Veronica B. Pierce.

July 5, 2020 at 6:22 pmGod didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain. But he did promise; STRENGTH for the day, COMFORT for the tears and LIGHT for the way.

July 6, 2020 at 3:37 pmDaneda,
May you heart be quilted by the promise of your faith and strengthened by the comfort of those who care; knowing that God makes no mistakes. “And He said unto me, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” II Corinthians 12:9
My prayers are with you, Bernard and your families.
