Lyric affectionately called “Lyr Bear,” Nookie” and, “Mooey” was born on July 16, 2020, in Norfolk, VA and took her wings on August 28, 2023, at Children’s Hospital of Kings Daughter’s surrounded by her family. Lyric christening ceremony was held on November 14, 2020, which dedicated her back to the Lord .She was special little girl that loved to pray each night before she went to bed.
Lyric was a curious, joyful, and loved playing outside with her “twin” A’ria, they loved getting into mischief, especially when Midrel and Geoffrey were least expecting it! She was certainly an adventurous little girl; therefore, at the playground, she decided to slide down headfirst on the slide instead of the “safe route.” Although, this was terrifying for her mommy, she didn’t think it was big deal, she didn’t even flinch while enjoying her time at the playground. In addition to her adventurous attitude, she was also a chef with her “pretend food.” She loved cooking so much, she would cook just about anywhere, even in the bathroom. Lyric favorite shows to watch was Baby shark, Marsha and the Bear, and Co Co Melon. She loved to sing her favorite song “twinkle twinkle little star” and she really had a beautiful voice.
She was wise beyond her years, and anyone that encountered her perceived the maturity she possessed, especially because her beautiful brown eyes pierced through your soul when she looked at you. She was intune with her surroundings even as a newborn. Her favorite things to eat was just about anything because her tastebuds were so advanced; therefore, preparing dinner was simple.
She was so thoughtful and caring for the people she loved. In a word, Lyric was independent, strong, adventurous, kind, insightful, and thoughtful. Lyric was only 3 years old; however, she left a mark on the world.
Lyric leaves to mourn her loving parents Midrel Williamson-Ward and Geoffrey Ward of Norfolk, VA . Her twin sister A’ria Ward. Her two brothers Tariq Ward and Rashawn Ward. Also left to mourn are her four aunts Aleathea Cumbo (Tony), Barbara Williamson-Garris (James), Jo’que Everett (Arthur) and her bonus auntie Shawnita Jackson (James). She also leaves to mourn her uncle Gordon Ward Jr. (Bridget). She leaves to also mourn a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and friends.
Lyric was preceded in death of her grandparents Betty Jo Ward , Gordon Ward, Veronica Williamson , and Hugh R. Williamson Jr. In addition to her Aunt Tracey Evans. She was also preceded in death of her cousin’s Terrell Evans and Jameze Williams.
We are honored that God blessed us with such a loving little girl who never gave up and fought until the end. We love you Lyric and we will carry your strength and kindness with us always. Know you are loved and will never be forgotten.
Rest in Heaven baby.

“Justice and Midrel, Words can never express my sincere condolences and prayers to you in the loss of your “angel” Lyric Ward. Lyric was beautiful in side and out . To you two parents, I’m sure if Denise and Hugh were here today, they’d say that they are so proud of you. ISAIAH 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
Poem to Lyric✝️👏🙏🏿☝️❤️
The butterflies on the breeze,
The whisper through the trees,
The crinkle on the leaves,
Was it you?
The sparkle in the stream,
The murmurs in my dream
The efforts for our team,
Was it you?
The beauty that beguiled,
The sounds of the wild,
The giggle of my child,
Was it you?
The fragrance in the flower,
The rainbow after the shower,
The chiming of the hour,
Was it you?
The bobbing of the bird,
The softly spoken word,
The “love you” that’s unheard,
Was it you?
I know it was you,
ALWAYS.
Love you my cousins.
