Lucy Anderson departed on August 18, 2019 as she accepted God’s invitation to eternal rest and peace. She was born on December 10, 1935 in Jackson, NC to the late Quincy and Victoria Anderson. As an adult she moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she began her career as a chef and gave birth to her two children. She later moved to Portsmouth, VA where she was employed at Bide-a-Wee Gulf Course for many years, later to be employed at Bibby’s Restaurant, where she worked until she retired. Lucy loved the Lord and attended First Baptist Church Elm Avenue, Portsmouth, VA.
Lucy was predeceased by her son, Tony Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memories; a daughter, Diane Walker and her husband Lydell of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren, Mario Anderson (Jennifer) (Ports., VA), Kimberly Bufflao, Jackson, NC, Percy Anderson, Charlotte, NC and Anthony Lawrence, Newport News, VA; nine great grandchildren Dequan, Marjae, Tyon, Deshawn, Kimtasia, Deontreal, Jabari, Anthony and Sariah; three siblings, Irma Hardy (Hampstead, NY), Joe Louis Anderson (NC), Ernest Watkins (Portsmouth, VA), and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lucy was predeceased by five sisters, Arletha Jones, Jeanette Anderson, Louise Johnson, Julia Long and Geneva Boone; and four brothers, Moses, Thomas, Johnny and Robert Lee Anderson.
