Lucille C. Williams, 88, was called home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2019. She was born in Craven County, North
Carolina. She was the daughter of the late William Lloyd and Arsenia Barrett Wooten. She was the middle child of 11, and twin to the late Louise Wooten.Lucille is the true definition of the commandment, “love thy neighbor as thyself”. She would help anyone even as owner of Williams Market, as a member of Antioch Church on Palmer Street in Portsmouth, and as the candy lady on Beechdale Road.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jimmie Lee Roosevelt, Sr., daughter, Helen L. Williams; 2 sons, Calvin Lee Williams and Jimmie Lee Williams, Jr.; and 1 grandson, Eric O. Williams. She is survived by, one daughter, Juanita Williams Skinner
(Arnold); one daughter-in-law, Laverne Williams (Calvin); five granddaughters, Nicole L. Joyner (Anthony), Letitia N. Baysmore
(Randall), Kenisha Booker (Larry), Danielle Vaughan and Cassandra Tyson; four grandsons, Stanley V. Tyson, Damain M. Williams, Ronnie L. Williams, and Daniel Williams; two sisters, Sula Mae Wooten Adams and Alice Roundtree (Louis); five special daughters, Deborah Sawyer, Tina Harrell, Paula Farmer, Belinda Skinner and Chandra Tyson. One special son, Jeffrey Williams and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family and friends. She was well known as “Mrs. Lucille”, and she will be truly missed

My fondest memories is coming to the house, for Thanksgiving and eating those light green sweet potatoe pies.
