Loretta Lorraine Nicholson (Lori) was born on December 22, 1961 to Mary Nicholson and James Palmer III in Toledo Ohio. She lost her battle to cancer on May 12, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lori graduated from Central Catholic High in 1980. While in High school she was the first African American basketball player to play at Central Catholic High school. After she graduated, she enlisted into the US Navy, where she served 10 years. During her service, she was able to travel and see the world. She finally put down roots in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her three kids. While living in Virginia Beach, she was a mother to so many kids around the neighborhood. After the military, she became a Deputy Sheriff at the Virginia Beach Sheriff Office in 1996 where she served thirteen years.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Nicholson and James Palmer III; Grandmother: Mary Gold Saunders, GodMother: Olivia Lorraine Hampton, brothers: Brian Palmer and Miles Nicholson.
Lori Nicholson leaves to treasure her memories to her children: Darnia Nicholson (Jazzmond), LaTasha “Beautiful” Smith (Glenn), Theodore “TJ” Traylor (Jissell), Corey Wade, Tiffany Kofa and Quinton Wade. Grandchildern: Bryce Steadman, Jayden Smith, Carmella Smith, Zais Nicholson, Noah Bentley, Khloe Smith, Zadia Nichoslon, Zamira Nicholson, Gabriel Smith, Catalina Traylor. Siblings: Anthony Nicholson (Delores), Brandi Watkins (Lewis), Christian Pernell (Naiya), James Palmer IV and Vincent Palmer. Her parents Robert “RC” Pernell and Mary Palmer. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, uncles, other loving relatives and kind friends.
