In Loving Memory of Lonnis L. Breckenridge, Jr. “Dee-Dee”, “Big Lonnis”, 72, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020 at Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1948 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Lonnis L. Breckenridge Sr. and Marie Antoinette Breckenridge. He was the second of six children.

Our beloved Lonnis will be remembered by his family and friends for being full of laughter, jokes, and generous. He had a unique sense of humor; his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He loved eating at restaurants such as Captain D’s, Martin’s Soul Food, Ruby Tuesday, and Texas Roadhouse. Those were among his favorite, after eating a good meal, he would say, “That sure was tasty Leahray”. He also enjoyed having a banana split at Dairy Queen, which was his favorite dessert.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, LuVincent Breckenridge, Sr. (Darnetta); one grandson, LuVincent Breckenridge, Jr.; three great-grandsons, Aiden, Ian, and Dylan Breckenridge all from Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Lance Adane Breckenridge; two sisters, Lana Breckenridge Merritt and Leahray Breckenridge Ruth all of Norfolk, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend Lonnis. He was one of the smartest and kindest people I’ve ever known and one of the few people I’ve known who could ace their report card every single semester. My heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to the entire Breckenridge family during this time of bereavement. Although Dee Dee’s passed over to the other side, his memories will live on in our hearts.

I knew you as Big Lonnis. I loved that Empriss gave you that name. It fit you perfectly. You were always big on respect, big on food, big on laughing, big on loving, big on helping. I still can’t believe you’re gone. You were such an amazing person, and I will never forget how you always made me smile even when I felt like I couldn’t. I still remember you reaching out to give me hugs, or smiling and laughing when I showed up at your door. I cherish every conversation and meal we’ve shared. I rejoice that you are no longer in pain. I rejoice because you are reunited with your parents and siblings in heaven. I rejoice in the fact that you knew I loved and respected you for everything that you were. You’re heart was full and pure. You’re laughter and spirit will never be forgotten. We love you Big Lonnis.
