Loleta A. Scott

Sunrise: March 8, 1975

Sunset: November 6, 2021

Loleta Arlinda Scott rose on March 8th, 1975. She peacefully transitioned to heaven with her loved ones on November 6th, 2021. Loleta was born to the late Belinda Basnight and James Jackson.

Loleta attended Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA. She was a mother of four, 1 son and 3 girls. She was married to Donovan Scott, where she gained a stepson. She was separated and spent her last years with her childhood sweetheart Ronnie Mock. She traveled and took care of her family and kids. She did her best to take care of her kids after separating from her marriage. She was an awesome grandmother and gave all she had to her children.

To those who knew her, Loleta, often called “Lo” was a protector and supportive friend. She made friends everywhere she went. Loleta had a youthful fun spirit and was well liked by many. She was considered a ride or die to her closest cousins and was never afraid to keep it real. Her children adored her, and friends loved her dearly.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her father, James Jackson of Virginia, former husband Donovan Scott Sr of Florida, Ronnie Mock of Wilkesboro, NC, and Shawan Dennis who resides in Africa. Her sisters Natasha Paris, Towanda Jackson, and Patrice Moore of Virginia. Her daughters Briea Scott, Allona Scott, and Elisha Scott of Norfolk, VA. She will be missed by her only son Curtis Basnight and stepson Donovan Scott Jr. Her grandchildren Darion Basnight, Kiotti Edwards, Jamarri Sims, Adorious Wilkins, Zamarri White, and Karmella Scott. Her uncles Jacoby Basnight and Ted Basnight

She is preceded in death by sister Belinda Basnight, brother Carlos Moore, mother Belinda Basnight, grandparents Theodore Basnight and Martha Basnight, and uncles Edward Basnight and Sherman Basnight.

I miss you so much cousin. I texted you and called you before learning that you had transitioned. My heart aches and I’m still in disbelief. I was suppose to come and visit. We made plans and it hurts that I won’t get to see you again. We have had so many great times as teenagers, and great times and conversations as adults. I’m happy I got the chance to see you back in the summer but also hurt for not realizing it was the last time. Loleta, I love you you will forever be missed. Your cousin Cindy
