Liston Z. Godfrey Sr., 83, transitioned Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Born and raised in North Carolina on February 25, 1936. He was the son of the late Rev. J.R. Godfrey and Mary Frances Horne-Godfrey. Liston was the life of the party as some would say.

He leaves his wife Harriett Godfrey, sons; Calvin Thomas (Monica), Liston Godfrey Jr., and Earl Godfrey; his daughters, Beatrice Graves (Timothy), Jean Godfrey, Wanda Godfrey, Karen Hunter (Larry), and Linda Brown; several grandchildren as well as great grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish three sisters Jean Godfrey, Marie Ligon (Frank), Patterson, NJ and Sarah Anthony (Herman), Norfolk, VA; three brothers Curtis Godfrey, Durham, NC, Junior Godfrey, Clarkton, NC, and Henry Earl Godfrey, Elizabethtown, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
