Lionel Lee Hamlin, Sr.

Lionel Lee Hamlin Sr. (Affectionally Called Lee) was born to the late Joseph O. Hamlin Sr. and Sarah L. McClenon Hamlin in Norfolk Virginia on January 14, 1957. He graduated from Lake Taylor High School in June 1975.

Lionel went to work for the Norfolk and Newport News Shipyard where he stayed for 20 years, he then worked at a Security company for an additional 10 years before finally retiring.

On the morning of September 2, 2024, the Lord saw fit to call Lionel to his heavenly home, Lionel was preceded in death by his sister Edith T. Hamlin, and his brother Lawrence R. Hamlin.

Lionel and Debora A. Hamlin were together for 42 years and out of their union they were blessed with 5 children 3 sons and 2 daughters: Lionel Lee Hamlin Jr. (Pearl), Tiffney Loleta Smith, Jane Denise McCoy, Donnell Eric McCoy Hamlin, and Marcus Travis McCoy Hamlin. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter,Β 

Survivors also include 5 siblings, Joseph S. Hamlin (Joyce), Dianne H. Murphy (Larry) Joseph O. Hamlin Jr., Calvin E. Hamlin Sr. (Carol), and Veronica R. Deloatch (Leander). He was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.Β 

Lionel enjoyed taking long driving trips with his wife, whether they were going to Texas for a Dallas Cowboys game or Myrtle Beach for a quiet week together.Β  His past time favorite was fishing, crabbing and working on different projects with his sons (Assisting them with their car repairs and home improvements). He was very passionate about watching Westerns on Saturdays and Sundays watching the Dallas Cowboys while eating a home-cooked meal prepared by his wife.

Lionel will truly be missed by all of us.
