Linda M. Lucas passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Linda M. Lucas was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Church Lucas and John Lucas; and her son, Michael Lucas.

Linda was born on April 13, 1944, in Norfolk, VA. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School system. After moving to Brooklyn, NY, she worked as a Private Duty Nurse for over ten years. When she returned to Norfolk, VA she worked for Frye Properties as a maintenance woman for over 45 years until her retirement. Linda was well respected in her community as she was known as the “neighborhood mom.”

Linda was a supporter of the AME Zion Church and the ministry of her cousin, Rev. Dr. Sandi Brandon Hutchinson. She attended Sycamore Hill AME Zion, St. Joseph AME Zion, and Gabriel’s Chapel AME Zion all under the Pastoral Leadership of Dr. Hutchinson. She even raised funds to support the ministry following the church fire of Gabriel’s Chapel.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Clara Spence of Chesapeake, VA, three children, Magail Lucas (Carl) of Norfolk, VA, John Lucas (Alesia) of Queens, NY, and Kimberly Roulhac (Michael) of Warrington, PA, one Granddaughter, Chandenia L. Lucas of Orlando, FL, one Grandson John W. Lucas of Portsmouth, VA, and one Great-Granddaughter Kamyrah Adrien of Orlando, FL, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

May you all find comfort in knowing she has transitioned from labor to reward. I loved her and you know I love you all!

      Bea, you know that you are loved. From day one when Damon brought you to meet me, honey love ❤️ you were family and will always be! Mom loved you so much and that’s saying a whole hell of a lot. Thank you for continuing our family and just for always being there! We love ❤️ you forever and always!

      Please keep the Lucas family in prayers. As we lay to rest our Queen mother Linda Lucas. We love you and will miss you dearly. I have had the pleasure of knowing my daughter’s grandmother. For 37 years she was like a mom to me. My fire cracker her name for me was Ms thang. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I didn’t understand it then but I understand it now. Take your rest mother continue to watch over us especially Shan Lucas & your precious glam baby great granddaughter Kamyrah.😇🙏🏿💔. I always told you that you reminded me of a beautiful Lena Horne.
