It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Linda Darlene Griffin, a devoted woman of faith, love, and compassion, who entered eternal rest on June 9, 2025, at the age of 73.
Linda was born in Manhattan, New York, and was a native of the Long Ridge Community in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Linda was a God-fearing woman whose life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She was known for always reaching out with love—never missing an opportunity to check in on family, friends, neighbors, and even acquaintances. Her thoughtful spirit was most evident in the cards she sent without fail on every holiday—each one a small but powerful reminder of how deeply she cared.
She was the heart of our family, offering prayers, encouragement, and warm hugs that could soothe any soul. Her faith in God was not just spoken—it was lived daily through her words, her actions, and the grace she extended to everyone around her.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian “Big Momma” Wilborne; her father, Albert Wilborne; a sister, Violet Jones; a special niece, Sylvia “Tootsie” Sutton; and an animal companion, Basil.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her two daughters, Millicent Mitchell (Charles) and Angela Peterson (Jeffrey); one sister, Minnie Watkins of Florida; two brothers, Albert “Pete” Wilborne Jr. and Michael Wilborne (Doris); a special friend, George Davis; four granddaughters: Jennifer, Takedra, Kyera, and Angel; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were all blessed by her presence.
