Lillian Vandora Holley born on April 15, 1959, in Norfolk, VA was sent to her eternal home on September 20, 2024, in Greensboro, NC. Lillian was the beloved daughter of the late Delores and James Holley. Lillian is preceded by her two children, Garnita Holley and Ashonta (bow bow) Holley, and granddaughter, Keshara Holley.
Lillian, who was affectionately known as Doll Baby, was a ray of sunshine in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and a grateful heart for all. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more lives she touched along the way, especially at the end. Doll Baby asks that you not remember her in the state that she transitioned home but remember her from the various ways she touched your lives throughout her journey.
Those who knew Doll Baby will remember her for her sense of humor, honesty/ outspokenness, giving spirit, and, most importantly, her faith in God. Her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered will truly be missed but never forgotten. Doll Baby had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh through the rough times. Again, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who crossed her path. She would often open her home up to anyone in need just so others could feel safe and loved. Doll Baby’s countless acts will always be a reason why she will live on in our hearts.
During Doll Baby’s last days on this earth, she spent her days listening to her favorite song, “Come On in the Room.” She would gain the strength to sing with tears of joy, knowing that she was transitioning to her real father. She often prayed and had others pray for her when she was weak. Doll Baby was ready to go to her father, where she could find real peace, joy, and love. In her last words, she said, “Don’t cry for me. I found peace, and I don’t feel any more pain. I’m going to my father’s house.”
Lillian is survived by her sisters, Valerie Holley, Lisa Holley, and Donna Holley, and her brothers, Marty Ali (Joyce) and Otis Owens, all of Norfolk, VA. She also leaves behind her children Dontae Holley (Norfolk, VA), Marty (Devone) Holley (Greensboro, NC), Latoya Holley (Elizabeth City, NC), Kanisha Holley (Charlotte, NC), Terrance Holley (Newport News, VA), Junita (Fred) Reid (Norfolk, VA), Shevelle Holley (Elizabeth City, NC), Shanea Holley (Hertford, NC), Saleem Royster (Hertford, NC). Lillian also leaves behind her special son Petro Johnson (Norfolk, VA), 36 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
