Lester Van Toliver affectionately known as “Duck” departed this life on Sunday, April 5, 2020. He was the son of the late Richard and Helen Toliver. Lester was raised in Chesapeake in the Crestwood Manor Community and later in the Georgetown Community. He attended Indian River High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Tabernacle of Miracles Ministries.
Lester was known for his vibrant personality. He socially enjoyed partying and dancing. His dancing style was greatly admired as he didn’t mind getting on the floor to preform to his nickname of “Shuckie Duckie.” He had a great love for family and kids. He won the affection of most of the kids in the family and everyone knew that their kids could be entrusted in his care for love and protection.
Lester was everyone’s handyman who could get the job done. He knew his way around the house from the kitchen to the laundry room and ironing board. He could iron clothes to look as though they were professionally done.
Lester is predeceased by sisters: Joyce Wilson, Helen Creecy, and brother: Orrick Toliver. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Dudley; daughters: Shemika Halsey, Tamara Broadnax, Tajia Dudley, Shanyia Dudley; sisters: Carol Lynch and Vickie Thomas and brothers: Rev. Michael Toliver (Bennette), Anthony Toliver, Jimmy Toliver (Debra), Apostle Richard,
