Leroy Outland 79, of Portsmouth, Virginia was called home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2020 at Bon Secours Maryview Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1941 in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Lynwood and Blanche Outland. Leroy attended First Baptist Church-Elm Avenue in Portsmouth, Virginia. He enjoyed watching “CNN” and loved football and his favorite team, the Washington Redskins.
Leroy had to drink his coffee all day while talking to anyone who he came in contact with, while at home. He enjoyed going to church at First Baptist, whenever he could. He loved the church, the Pastor, the people, the fellowship and worship experience.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Gloria Outland, and his three beautiful daughters, Leronda Outland, Robin Giddens, and Sonya Staton; all of his loving and loveable grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Ella), and Bobby Outland, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by family, many friends, church family, neighbors, and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elois and brother, Billie Outland.
The viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Metropolitan Funeral Service, 5605 Portsmouth Blvd., from 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19, please follow social distance and wear face covering.
The Outland family wishes to express ‘Thank You’ to everyone for your outpouring of prayers, calls and all other acts of kindness and courtesies extended during this tough time. We love you all.
