Dr. Leon Christopher Bailey was born May 9, 1932 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Ernest Levi Bailey and Dora Sloane Bailey and accepted Christ at an early age. Dr. Bailey was a scholar earning degrees from: Gwynedd-Mercy College (B.A. History and B.S. Elementary Education); Philadelphia College of Bible (now Cairn University); Seminary of Reformed Episcopal Church and Philadelphia Theological Seminary. Dr. Bailey was fluent in Hebrew and Greek. He was awarded numerous awards and certificates for outstanding leadership and service to church and community.

He taught in Philadelphia at Christ Memorial Christian School, Manna Bible Institute and Leeds Middle School as well as Cathedral of Faith Christian School in Chesapeake, VA. He shared the anointed gift given to him by the Lord through teaching and lecturing at conferences and seminars. He mentored other ministers to develop a God-centered life of service and while attending Primeplus Adult Day service, led the Men’s Club in their weekly discussions.
Dr. Bailey served locally at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Virginia Beach under Dr. Todd Davidson and worshiped with Greater Saint Andrews A.M.E. Church under Rev. May 8, 2020 at 6:50 pmVery sorry for your loss. At this time, continue to lean on the LORD, thy GOD. There are numerous others within the community feeling your sorrow. Likewise, many are asking the GOD of all comfort to provide the comfort needed for your family. My spiritual father Leon, Bailey, used his gifts to help so many to the best of his ability.

May 9, 2020 at 1:57 pmWe are so sorry for your loss. May God grant the family peace during this time of bereavement. Dr. Bailey was a great teacher of the Gospel, and loved sharing God’s word at Piney Grove Baptist Church. He will truly be missed on this side of Heaven, but a great gain for heaven. I know he is up in heaven leading a class already. God Bless you family.

May 9, 2020 at 7:20 pmDr. Bailey was very instrumental in my spiritual journey. I will miss him although my personal health will not allow me to attend any of the services. My family love and prayers are with the family. Another good man gone, but he told way back that he was going to get his 4 scores.
