Joseph and Lenora shared fifty-eight wonderful years together. On January 2, God called Joseph Odom home at the age of ninety-five. On January 6, God called Lenora Odom home at the age of eighty-one.
Joseph was born in Cuthbert GA On June 7, 1925 and Lenora Odom was born in Virginia Beach, VA. On August 6, 1939. Joseph joined the Navy in 1942. He served our country for twenty-five years. He was a World War II Veteran. Joseph was a member of the American Post 5 for 30 years. Joseph worked at Pollards Chicken for forty plus years. Lenora was a cosmetologist for several years. She later became a homemaker to her eight children. She was also a home health care companion or several years. Joseph and Lenora also worked for Fisher, Sons, and Duke Janitorial Services.
Joseph’s entertainment was playing cards, watching old western movies and reading the newspaper. Lenora’s entertainment was playing bingo with her friends and plucking her games on her tablet.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Lee B. and Mary Odom; brother, A.J Odom; sisters, Martha Odom Davis and Zennie Odom Snowden; daughter, Gail Odom. Two surviving siblings, Isaac Odom (Nora Odom) of Jacksonville, FL, and Hattie Odom Brown of Cuthbert, GA.
Lenora was preceded in death by her son, Sherrod Johnson; father, George Brooks, Sr.; mother, Sara Brooks Cason; stepfather, Pernell Cason; brothers, Leroy Brooks, George Brooks, Jr., Daniel Brooks Sr., Surviving sister, Sarah Brooks Price.
Joseph and Lenora are survived by the blended children of this family. Cynthia James Scantling, Beverly Johnson, Valerie Johnson, Kenneth and Kathleen Johnson, Anthony and Michelle Johnson, (Dee Dee) Delphine and Peter Babar, Karen Clements, Jasmine Johnson; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
