Latron D. Cox, age 44, of Norfolk, VA, passed away on April 30, 2025. He was born on July 10, 1980 to William (Bill) and Sheila Cox. A proud athlete (football) and graduate of Oscar Smith High School, Latron went on to attend Old Dominion University. Throughout his life, he brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him. He had the most generous heart and infectious smile.
Latron was a skilled welder fitter with the United Association, where he took great pride in his craft. His work took him across the country, including long assignments in Washington state and Pennsylvania, where he lived for months at a time. He was dedicated, hardworking, and respected by his peers for both his talent and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, his greatest passion was fishing—his true happy place. Whether casting a line from the shore or heading out on his boat, the peace of the water and the thrill of the catch brought him immense joy.
Latron was a man of kindness, known for his free-hearted nature and unwavering support for those he loved. His laugh could fill a room, and his smile could light up even the darkest day.
Latron was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sheila N. Cox, and his brother, William M. Cox, III. He is survived by his devoted father, William M. Cox, Jr.; his stepmother, Juanita Floyd-Cox; his loving sister, Nekeecia Cox; his brother-in-law, Kenny Woodson; and his cherished niece, Keniyah Woodson. He also leaves behind Amar Johnson, to whom he was a father figure, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Latron’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in all who knew and loved him.
