Larry L. Blanchard

Sunrise: September 13, 1949

Sunset: September 18, 2018

In the early morning of September 18, the omniscient and omnipotent God called his servant Larry Lemount Blanchard of
Cape Henry Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia to eternal rest. Larry’s wife, Lillian Y. Blanchard, preceded him in death on September
10 six years ago. He was the son of the late James and Virginia Blanchard. His siblings who predeceased him were, Cleonora
Blanchard, Mother Annie Perkins, Deaconess Ella Hill, Joseph, Sidney, and James Blanchard.

Larry loved life. Seldom did you see him without a big smile or a hearty laugh. He loved to dance, argue his point, joke, and PARTY. His love for his family was second to none. Larry valued family. “He loved helping people. His passion was helping veterans with their paperwork with positive results.” Larry attended Tidewater Community College and received several associate degrees. He graduated from Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s degree and attended Old Dominion University. He was a former employee of the City of Chesapeake. Larry was a soldier’s soldier. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he received the National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; and a Marksman for the M14 and the M16 rifles.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters, Sheldia Bell, Helen Smith, and Veronica Godfrey. His brothers Johnnie, Elder Norman, Dr. Michael, and Deacon George Blanchard. Also, he leaves 18 grand-children and 6 great grand-children entrusted to him by his late wife to treasure his memories. His many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends adored him. He will be sorely missed by his special great granddaughter, Lisa Marie Howell and his dedicated and beloved special friend Dorothy Harper. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
