Larry Demetrius Midgette
February 6, 1970 – September 9, 2021

Larry Demetrius Midgette received his wings on September 9, 2021, after battling cancer for several years. He was born February 6, 1970; Larry grew up in Norfolk raised by his parents, Ruby Patrice Midgette and Rufus Delano Midgette. A graduate of Lake Taylor High School, Larry worked most of his adult life, up until becoming too ill to work, at Eggleston Service in Norfolk. He attended church at Angelic Church and was willing to be of help to others however, he could.

Larry loved collecting model cars and spending time with family and loved ones like his best friend, Marcus Bentley. His caregivers, Eric Pierre, treated Larry like a son and was a wonderful overall blessing in assisting the family with his daily living needs. Most of all, Larry is fondly remembered for loving the family dog, Rocky, until the very end. His mother recalls her funniest memory being of Rocky always waiting patiently for Larry to leave his food unattended. One day, Rocky waited as Larry made sandwiches. As soon as Larry turned away, Rocky snatched the sandwich and ran. Larry took off chasing him yelling, “That’s my sandwich!” Rocky gulped it down before being caught. Larry never left his food unattended again.

Larry possessed such a naturally sweet spirit and always met you with a smile, a great big hug, and a kiss. He made you feel like he was so delighted jut to see you. One could never tell how severe the pain was that he experienced and it was only God’s grace that provided the ultimate healing for his suffering. As Larry joins his baby brother, Christopher Midgette, in heaven, he leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Rufus and Ruby Midgette; siblings, Orlando Midgette (Iona), Kim Midgette – Allah and Rufus A. Midgette; aunts and uncles, Linda Plummer (Wade), Alfred Parker, Gwendolyn Parker, Claudia Tynes, Gloria Clark, Kim Parham (Edward), George Burrus, Jr.; special family member, Juwan Arnold, Whitney Arnold, Ashley Arnold, Shantell Arnold, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, work, community, and church family and friends. Larry lived a happy and joyful life and his loving spirit, filled with the love of Christ, will live on in our hearts.

“For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For in we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s” – Romans 14: 7 -8
