Kirk Richard Stephens was born March 14,1958 in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Christine Woods (Oliver) and Donald Stephens. Kirk attended Lakewood Public Schools. He is a college graduate of Norfolk State University class of “84”. He was also a part of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Gamma XI Chapter of “04”. He loved jazz music, football (Philadelphia Eagles), cooking, and most of all, his family.
Kirk is predeceased by his mother Christine Woods; father, Donald Stephens; stepfather, Oscar Woods; grandmother, Betsy Oliver; Older brother Bryan Stephens (Big 9) and baby brother, Robert Woods (Big Rob). He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jacqueline Mitchell-Stephens; four sons, Ja’Cobie, Jayrel (Roxzanne), Jacottis, and Jazze; one daughter, Justice; five grandchildren, Syleena, Imaya, Chrisette ,Saadiq, and Journee; one sister, Robin Collins (Bill) and her three sons; three sister in laws, Roze Woods, Mary Stephens and Diane Roscoe; four brother in laws, Aaron Roscoe, Richard Mitchell, Melvin Mitchell, and Kenneth Mitchell; three special friends, Terry Calhoun, Turan Smith, Kevin Evans; two line brothers, Michael Mitchell and James Jenkins; his AVI brothers from Lakewood High School; six adopted sons Brandon Whittington (deceased), Brandon Sawyer, Kedrick Harris, Anthony Curtis, Ronnell Butler, Lindsey Philpot and a host of other young men who he had a hand in shaping some part of their lives.
