Kim Sellers Carter, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 57. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Carter, and her son, Keenan Sellers. Kim leaves behind a profound legacy of love, sacrifice, and dedication that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A pillar of strength and selflessness, Kim dedicated over 35 years to restaurant management, where she earned a reputation as a tough yet compassionate leader. Her employees admired her unwavering commitment and the care she took in mentoring those under her guidance. Kim had a remarkable ability to inspire and positively impact the lives of everyone she encountered in her professional life.
However, it was as a mother and grandmother that Kim truly shone. She was the heart and soul of her family, always placing the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. Fiercely protective and devoted, Kim sacrificed her time and energy to ensure their well-being and happiness. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she took great joy in every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Kim also opened her heart to raise her granddaughter, Desire, with the same tender care and nurturing spirit she had for her own children.
In her quiet moments, Kim found solace in reading mystery novels and challenging herself with word games and Sudoku puzzles—a passion that allowed her to unwind and escape into the worlds she loved. Her warmth, wisdom, and infectious laughter will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kim is survived by her mother, Retha Sellers; her father, James Sellers (Jeannette); sons Roshawn and Dexter Sellers; daughters LaKita Simmons and Deniesha Carter; brothers Preston Sellers (Verna) and James Goodman; sisters Judy Sellers Kemp (Nathaniel), Leslie Sellers Scott (Willie), Jacinta Harmon (Donald), and Lilia McGee (Deon); daughter-in-love Shonda Fountain; special aunt Annette Jenkins; granddaughters Cheree, Aniya, Desire, and Keyona; grandsons Anthony (AJ), Brandon, Karlos, Keyon, and Amir; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kim’s legacy of love, sacrifice, and kindness will forever remain a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
