Kim Denise Kuykendall Smith

Kim D. (Kuykendall) Smith slipped quietly from our midst to experience eternal rest, free from life’s pain on November 30, 2021 at 5:00 am at Norfolk Health and Rehabilitation Center, Norfolk, VA.

Kim Denise Kuykendall Smith was born on September 4, 1958 to the parents of Dollie Mae (Peeples) Wells and the late Ronald Dean Kuykendall.

Kim is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1976.  Following graduation, she attended Norfolk State University.  Kim later left NSU and began working for the Federal Government, as an Inventory Management Specialist at the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Norfolk, VA for over 32 years. After retiring, Kim started her second career with the City of Virginia Beach while also working part time at QVC.

Kim was a Bibliophile, a lover of books and she enjoyed working at the library during her retirement.  Often times Kim would pick up a new book and would read the entire book in one day, when she wasn’t shopping.  Everyone who knew Kim also knew of her beloved birds, Razzy and Jazzy.  They were her babies.  When Kim became ill, it broke her heart that she had to find them a new home, but she realized she was too ill to continue to take care of them.

In addition to her father, Kim was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Earl Dean Kuykendall and Solomon Wayne (Swayne) Kuykendall and maternal grandparents Vernell Peeples, Sr. and Bettie Wilkerson Peeples. Also, her stepfather James F. Wells. Uncles Vernell Peeples Jr, Henry Kuykendall and Aunts Betty Jean Boone and Merle Kuykendall Ware.

Kim leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Dollie Mae Peeples Wells, Sister Sherri L. Kuykendall-Pulliam, and brother-in-law Frank Pulliam III, niece Kourtney D. Cagle-Johnson (Jordan) and nephew Keith Jamal Pulliam. Also her great niece Charlotte Lynn Cagle-Johnson, uncles James Peeples (Barbara), Matthew Peeples, Milton Peeples (Cheryl), aunts Geraldine Epps (Robert), Elsie Whitehead (Moses), Carolyn Parker (Larry), Sharon Sampson (Tony)and a host of other family members and friends.
