Kenny Devane Vinson Sr. aged 59, departed this life to go be with the Lord on February 1, 2024. Kenny was better known as Vaney (affectionately named by his younger brother Keith) Petey, Devane, Da, Dad, Pop, Granda Devane, Granddaddy Devane Sir (affectionately named by his granddaughter Shakira “Kia” White) Grandad, and Uncle Devane. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He was born January 25th, 1965, to Louis and Doris Vinson in Norfolk, VA. He was raised in Chesapeake, VA, in the South Norfolk and Portlock area. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age at First Gospel Tabernacle, Chesapeake, VA. He was preceded in death by his father Louis and his son Kenny Devane Vinson Jr.

Kenny married Angela Michelle Hodges in Virginia Beach, VA on June 18, 2011. They later moved to Portsmouth, VA until his untimely illness. At an early age, Kenny was phenomenal with stats and numbers. He was truly a sports fanatic and very analytical. He kept a pad with football rushing yards for all the younger kids in the neighborhood. Kenny was also an honor roll student from 1st to 12th grade. He attended Oscar F. Smith High School and later went to Norfolk State University for two years majoring in accounting. He was also a fabulous chess player. Kenny followed in his dad’s footsteps to become a mechanic. Kenny managed several auto mechanic shops throughout the Tidewater area. He worked on and fixed countless family members and friend’s cars at a discounted price. His second calling was a sheet metal mechanic, where he achieved first-class status. One of Kenny’s coworkers described him as a great, great, great sheet metal mechanic. Kenny’s work as a sheet metal mechanic came to an end when he was severely hurt on the job in 2011.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Michelle, his mother Doris, his four children, who he loved dearly, son, Kevin (Jennifer), his daughters, Shuvonda White (Tony), Alexis Vinson and LaShauna Dixon, brother Keith Vinson (Yvonne), his stepchildren KeKe (Curtis), Kevin, Keon and Koty, 22 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchild, 3 nephews, a special aunt Ernestine Boone (Ma Tut) a friend of 50 + years Randall (Randy) Harvey and a host of family & friends.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
