Kenneth D. Lewis, known to his family and friends as Dwayne or “Teddy Bug,” died on May 25, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia.
Kenneth was born in Richmond, VA, on December 3, 1960, to Robert Sr. and Elsie (Bond) Lewis. They later moved to Norfolk, VA, where Kenneth graduated from Lake Taylor High School. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. Kenneth loved all types of music and singing. He served in the United Mission Choir of Norfolk for many years and decades later in the Love Christian Center Church Choir of Suffolk. Kenneth also loved his Dallas Cowboys team, win or lose. He could tell a joke and take a joke with the best of them!
Kenneth is predeceased by his son Kenneth Lewis Jr., father Robert Lewis Sr., Mother Elsie Bond Lewis, brother Lee Lewis, and brother Mark Lewis. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his only child, Shanta Peterson(Norman); grandchildren: Christopher Lewis, Christien Peterson, and Camren Peterson. Great-grandchildren: Genesis Marroquin Lewis, Melanie Marroquin Lewis, and Mila Marroquin Lewis. Siblings: Robert Lewis Jr., Cynthia Walker(Albert), Vanessa Nixon, Vincent Williams(Kimberly), and Patricia Williams, along with uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of dear friends. Last but not least, he leaves behind his furry best friend Tupac.
He is missed tremendously by his family and friends, but a request for his return would be selfish. So we simply say, “We’ll see you soon.”
