Kenatha Hamilton

Sunrise: April 24, 1937

Sunset: January 6, 2019

Kenatha Hamilton, a wonderful seed planted by our Heavenly Father in Chesterfield, SC on April 24, 1937 to Oscar and Essie Hamilton was one of fifteen children planted in the Hamilton Garden.  On January 6, 2019, she peacefully ascended to her eternal home.

In her early teens she relocated to Norfolk, VA to join her brother and sister.  Kenatha, (who everyone affectionately called “Ms. Kitty”) worked as a caregiver for many years.  Assisting others in need was her joy.  She was a faithful and giving steward.  She was extremely passionate about life and had a great sense of humor.  Always able to find the positive in any situation, and a way to make you laugh.  She had a deep and caring love for family, and was truly the best Mother and Grandmother that any child could have.  We are immensely grateful for the time that God shared her with us.  Yes, we’re sad now that He has chosen to take her home; but we rejoice in knowing that she is with family, and that we will see her beautiful face and laugh with her again.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Alvin Boyd; six sisters: Sylatha Burton, Annie Pearle Roberts, Marie Hamilton, Ruby Chapman, Louise McMullin, and Vernisha Boyd; four brothers: Antio Hamilton, Oscar Hamilton, McIver Hamilton and Lonnie Hamilton.  To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her life partner, Clifton Gallop of Norfolk, VA; two daughters: Elaine Woodhouse (Allen) of Woodbridge, VA and Monique Hamilton of Norfolk, VA; four sisters: Betty Merriaman of Cheraw, SC, Mearle Roberts of Fredericksburg, VA, Elease Jones of Baltimore, MD and Cindy Hamilton of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren: Kenitha Woodhouse, Tovah Graham, Monae Hamilton, Demique Bailey, Dyamond Hamilton and Raniyah Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
