I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith – 2 Timothy 4:7
Keith DeWayne Taylor transitioned peacefully on the evening of Thursday, February 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 17, 1960, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, to Shirley Taylor. He was the oldest of six children. At an early age, Keith was baptized and accepted Christ into his life. He confessed his love for the lord and continued his faith in God until the end.
Growing up in Louisiana, Keith was educated in the public school system of Lake Providence, Louisiana. After High School, Keith entered the workforce exploring different industries such as Farming and Maritime before choosing his profession as a Lumberjack. Keith’s career abruptly ended due to an unforeseen accident. After his accident, Keith extended his education at MobilityWorks as a wheelchair Mechanic.
Keith (Keithy) had a remarkable ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. His laughter was infectious, and his stories, often filled with wisdom and humor, will echo in the hearts of many. He was a man of unwavering principles, always standing up for what was right and encouraging others to do the same. While he often expressed his affection through actions and words, those who knew him understood the depth of his love.
Keith’s strength and independence were evident in everything he did, proving he could handle anything life threw his way. He enjoyed his outings in his electric wheelchair doing simple things like running errands for his mother and getting one of his favorite meals from the Chinese restaurant, he loved to order the PuPu platter. On beautiful days, he would get in his car and ride around visiting family and friends. He would call from his cell phone and say, “I’m outside. can you bring me a plate of food.” Keithy lived his life unapologetically; he said what he said and meant what he said. Keith will forever remain in our hearts.
Keith leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother, Shirley Taylor, one brother, Gregory Taylor (Gwen), and four sisters, Charlotte Craten, Salone Taylor-Mayo, Juanita Taylor-Kacela, and Shirley Cooley (Willie). A son, Kedric Toston, and four daughters, Shameka Toston (Damian), Keisha Toston, Joycelyn Toston, and Kayla Hootsell. Twenty grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Two nephews, C.J. Taylor and Quintin Mayo, Jr, six nieces, Kimberly Taylor, Volanda Craten, LaShay Clements, Shaunalyn Baez, Delmetria Taylor, and Tyese McKay, two aunts, one uncle, Zoie Wright (special great niece), and a host of great-nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his grandfather, Shiloh Taylor, and grandson, Tavorious “TJ” Hopkins, Jr.
